About The BookBind
The BookBind is where schools, homes, and the children's book world meet—not to perform, but to build.
We gather here because we believe books aren’t just curriculum—they’re culture. They aren’t just tools for literacy—they’re tools for connection. And if we want books to reach the hands and hearts they’re meant for, we have to talk honestly about how they move through families, classrooms, and systems.
This isn’t a one-way newsletter. It’s a shared table.
We reflect. We question. We reimagine.
We talk about what books are being shared, who they’re reaching, and what becomes possible when we center community, care, and clarity—over performance, perfection, and permission.
Why We Gather
We gather because:
Families deserve more than literacy checklists.
Educators deserve support that doesn’t burn them out.
Authors deserve to be seen as partners, not vendors.
And the publishing world deserves a mirror—one that reflects both possibility and responsibility.
We gather to shift the frame.
We gather to build trust.
We gather because the way we talk about books shapes who feels welcomed by them.
Who’s Behind This
I’m Quinn Cummings— Founder of Reading To Connect. Host of the Reading To Connect Show. Creator of The ENGAGE Method™ and Engaged Shared Reading™, and recently ranked among Substack’s Top 100 in Parenting. 1st VP of PTA Programs at my son’s Title I elementary school. Chair of DEI for our district PTA. Host of a 1,600+ member parenting group on reading. District ambassador.
But more than the titles—I’m here.
Here with proximity, consistency, and care. Embedded in the in-between spaces—between publishing and parenting, between schools and storytelling.
The BookBind isn’t just an extension of my work. It’s a place for us to get honest, ask better questions, and explore what’s possible together.
I’m not here to have all the answers. I’m here to listen, to notice, and to keep showing up.
